A few hours left . . .We had one more breakfast at the hotel, one more croissant, one last cup of coffee and the tour was officially over! We were lucky, our flight was not until evening, so we had several hours before we needed to leave for the airport. The hotel arranged for a shuttle bus to pick us up, and allowed us to leave our bags so we could do a bit more exploring. We decided to see St. Sulpice Church on the Left Bank. We walked quietly through as there was a Noontime eucharist being held. Their famous organ was not in use today (yet another reason to return!), but we were able to view the impressive murals, and the Shroud of Turin (the buriel cloth that is believed to have wrapped the body of Christ).

Au revoir, Paris, we'll see you again! We finally ran out of time, and suddenly we were back at the hotel waiting for our shuttle bus. Our bus made a couple more stops which allowed us to do just a bit more "sightseeing" through the window, including the Opera Garnier and a great view of Sacre-Coeur. Airport check-in was a breeze, and the airport itself seemed very quiet to us compared to Boston Logan and London Heathrow. A final visit to Lauduree for macarons to share, and we're on our way home!

The next time I visit . . .I'll take a cruise down the Seine on a sunny day!
I'll spend time in the Cluny Museum and the Carnavalet Museum; I'll walk the Champs-Elysees; I'll visit Notre-Dame right at opening time when it's less crowded; I'll assemble a picnic on Rue Cler and enjoy it near the Eiffel Tower; I'll take the whole tour on the #69 bus and visit the Pere Lachaise Cemetary; I'll have hot chocolate at Angelina's; I'll take a cooking class; I'll go to the Rodin Museum; Visit St. Sulpice on a Sunday and go up to the organ chamber; And I will eat croissants and baguettes, cheese and chocolates, escargot and fois gras, and OEuf mayo. |
