We begin where it began . . .
This morning, after a wonderful breakfast at the hotel, Arnaud handed out our museum passes and our Metro cards, and explained to us how the Paris metro works.
We were off to Ile de la Cite, to visit two exquisite churches - Sainte-Chapelle, followed by the majestic Notre-Dame Cathedral. |
"Forgive, but never forget."We had hoped to visit the Deportation Memorial, which is said to be a very moving experience, but it is closed on Mondays.
There is nothing more that can be said about this sad reminder. |
A few minutes to relax . . .We had a bit of free time to roam the grounds of Notre Dame before meeting up again for our tour through the Latin quarter. We split up for lunch, and Beth and I opted for take out from Paul's Cafe; it was such a gorgeous day, and we took Arnaud's advice and carried our picnic to a nearby park. We enjoyed our lunch while we watched the antics of children from a nearby school.

Our tour of the Latin Quarter is a blur . . . this is where my camera crapped out, and where my exhaustion took over. I recall the beauty of the Luxemburg Gardens, and how much I wanted to spend more time at the Cluny Museum, but my body wouldn't let me! We did see the Lady of the Unicorn Tapestries, the number one reason to visit, as well as some of the stained glass windows (and I really do remember seeing them!)
